WEEKLY inspirations

Yesterday was an amazing little taste of spring here in Philly (it was 65 degrees!), and it's almost like I completely forget other seasons exist until a day like that happens and it's like wow. Just wow. I took a great hike around a park near my parent's house with the pups, and spent the day relaxing and enjoying not being bundled up in layers and jackets galore. I'm hoping that easy-going mentality (and the unbelievable weather) lasts throughout the whole week. Happy Monday!

What I'm digging this week (in no particular order):

  • Flight of the Conchords will be touring this summer! As a super fan of them, you better believe I'll be there.
  • These grilled asparagus and ricotta pizzas look amazing.
  • Another easy chickpea and feta salad - love these recipes.
  • Watercolor-y pink and yellow tones for spring inspiration.
  • Dreaming of sandal weather. So close, yet so far.
  • This incredibly realistic forest wallpaper.
  • Beautiful mandala tattoo.
  • I love Hattie Stewart - and her addition to this Playboy cover is phenomenal.
  • These blackberry and meyer lemon gin and tonics sound delicious.
  • Donut cones are now a thing, and I must have one. Must. Have. One.

BOWIEdelphia

I've been working on a little side project in my spare time the past month or so that I'm calling BOWIEdelphia. I'm a big David Bowie fan, and way back when at UArts I did a little Bowie doodle that I ended up really digging. After hearing about his passing last month (seriously, a very sad day was had here), I decide to expand on that doodle and turn one Aladdin Sane design into 20 Aladdin Sane designs. From there I decide to turn 20 designs into 20 stickers - and 20 stickers into 100 stickers - and 100 stickers into Philadelphia bar art (because what else are you going to do with 100 Bowie stickers?)

So for the past few weeks I (and some friends here and there) have been slapping Bowie stickers in the Fishtown/Northern Liberties area (mostly dive-y bathrooms, don't want to rock the boat in the fancy ones -_-) - not so much as a tag, but as a tribute. Everyone needs a little Bowie in their life.

PHILADELPHIA, YOU'VE BEEN BOWIE-D.

Follow my Instagram to see more of my BOWIEdelphia posts - and other cool stuff (mostly dog and food related).

RAD spaces

This weekend I was able to work a bit on organizing my place (which it's in serious need of ), and naturally before doing so I went to Pinterest to look up some organizational inspiration. A good hour plus later (as all Pinterest searches end up being a total time suck), I found some great small space living ideas which totally make me want to DIY everything in my apartment now (never gonna happen), but also, in doing so, I realized I haven't posted any rad space inspiration as of late either. So here's a few spaces I'm loving recently - these are heavy on the minimum-space-maximum-impact vibe, since I love that half-table accent and that cork board wall. Happy spacing!

ART love

It's been a hot minute since I posted some of my favorite art of the moment, but fear not, I got you covered.

I've been really loving Joan Cornelia's work lately - it's super strange, but it's so addicting. His Instagram is one of my favorite follows - it never disappoints.

I've also been working on a little project of my own, which I'll do a separate post on later, but it includes a lot of David Bowie designs and a lot of stickers. So so many stickers. And I guess a lot of Philly bathrooms too ;)

But in the meantime, enjoy some fresh art inspiration via Pinterest below. Happy weekend!

WEEKLY inspirations

A short and sweet post today since this week FLEW by and I still have so much I want to get done - because hell if I'm going to do any work on Saturday or Sunday ;) Have a great weekend!

What I'm digging this week (in no particular order):

  • ALL of these amazing vegetable recipes
  • Love the rose gold choppy bob thing that girl has going on.
  • Cinderella Nikes.
  • This delicious and easy chickpea, avocado, and feta salad I'm definitely going to make.
  • This adorable bathmat
  • This blackberry cocktail and this rosemary cocktail.
  • The super cool functional art of Tania da Cruz (love love that head vase).
  • I'm a big fan of the Frenchie Bulldog brand (as seen here, and here, and here, and here, and here), and they just kicked off a line of hoodies! I already scooped up this one for Olive (30% off!), and am debating on getting this one for Sebastien too.
  • Everything about this look - from the hair to the tattoos to the shorts (even though I'm very anti-shorts), is on point.
  • Awesome DIY shoe rack.

TATTOO stuffs

I finally got around to getting my new tattoo (quite a few months later than expected, but as always, life gets in the way), and it's almost fully healed enough that I can take some photos and it doesn't look like a giant disgusting scab still. And trust me, it was a giant disgusting scab for a while. I'll definitely need to get it touched up soon, but I'm pretty happy with the outcome! My bestie Em is getting the same one on her forearm soon (but in color, which will look great), so I'm really excited to see them together once she takes the plunge. Here's a few shots of the design in action:

I've also been in the midst of designing some bigger and more intricate pieces for my upper arm and assorted blank spaces on my lower forearm  (which will eventually - hopefully - become a sleeve at some point), which has been an ongoing effort. I think the hardest part of getting a tattoo isn't actually getting it, it's designing it - especially when you're a graphic designer who redesigns everything 30 times over. There's also so many beautiful pieces out that that inspire me, it's hard to try and come up with a cohesive design that incorporates a little bit of everything you want. Here's some recent Pinterest pieces I've been coveting big-time:

P.S. If you have any ideas or pieces you think I'd like - I'd love to see them! I'm always making inspiration boards full of great graphics and designs that I draw inspiration from all the time.

WEEKLY inspirations

I'm finally getting back into the swing of things since January has been insanely busy, and I'm looking forward to doing a few posts a week again. I've been working on quite a few design projects on the side as of late, which has really been giving me a ton of inspiration - not only in my designs, but in other areas too (like getting new tattoos, making new recipes, and rearranging my apt.) I'm looking forward to doing a fair amount of nothing this weekend, which will be great since the last two weekends were crammed with events.

So here's what I'm digging this week (in no particular order):

  • I've been having a major crush on celestial art lately. I just love the contrast of white and gold against dark black so much.
  • This healthy + quick vanilla sprinkle cake recipe.
  • Pretty pretty ranunculus flowers.
  • Love this black and white image of Brigette Bardot and her white sunglasses.
  • This elderflower gin + tonic recipe sounds amazing.
  • Stripes on stripes with a pop of red - this graphic is everything I love.
  • Casual gray + black attire forever.
  • Big ol' pile of colorful pillows.
  • Those extremely fancy + delicious looking donuts.

HELLO 2016

Well well well, look who's here. 2015 flew right by, and 2016 is here to let me know I'm getting old and will be turning 30 this year. Joy. But overall, 2015 was a great year of change, and I hope 2016 will bring health, happiness, and success to everyone who works for it. Now that I'm back to my normal blogging schedule (sorry for the extended holiday - but I needed it!), I look forward to adding a few new categories to the mix, and updating a few old. But for now...

Here's what I'm digging this week (in no particular order):

  • Vintage + modern spaces.
  • Monochromatic + chic style.
  • Simple + complex line tattoos.
  • Everything on toast.
  • This recipe for spicy roasted cashews.
  • Blonde blonde hair with black black eyeliner.
  • Pink + gold + black color pops.
